UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund Representative to Lesotho Mrs Therese Zeba Kobeane has called for impartiality, accountability and commitment from the Country Programme Evaluation (CPE) reference group that will be overseeing UNFPA- Lesotho’s sixth country programme evaluation.
Addressing the group, whose task will be to provide quality assurance and oversight on the evaluation process, the Representative emphasized the importance of the methodology that would be employed in the evaluation process, showing the reference group members that they would be gatekeepers of the methodology in carrying out the evaluation.
Speaking during a meeting which was held on Thursday (04/08/2016), the Representative also stressed the pertinence for the evaluation, which starts in earnest on the 08th August and ends on the 11th October, 2016, saying it would give basis for further development of the next country programme. “We should see what worked and what did not, and also how we can do better and move the country in the right direction,” she added.
The sixth country programme (2013 -2017) is meant to demonstrate accountability to stakeholders on performance in achieving development results and on invested resources, support evidence-based decision making and contribute important lessons learned to the existing knowledge base on how to accelerate implementation of the programme of action of the International Conference on Population and Development beyond 2015 and the Sustainable Development Goals
